Study immunoaffinity chromatography using a specific antibody to purify antigenic proteins from complex samples. This technique implemented in the experiment involves performing a chromatography procedure using antigen or antibody immobilized on a chromatographic resin. The solution containing antigen or antibody is passed through the column, which specifically and efficiently captures antibodies (antigen). The captured molecules are eluted from the column as a pure fraction. This activity helps illustrate how this method is utilized in research laboratories. Includes teacher's guidebook with background, pre experimental set up, protocol, and suggested questions, as well as a separate student handbook. Materials supplied for six lab groups. Requires, but does not include, low speed centrifuge for 1.5-2ml tubes, rotator to hold 1.5ml tubes or a shaking Incubator, and UV light box.
