The sea gives us many living resources. Fish, crustaceans, mollusks, reptiles and algae can all be used as food. Mammals give us fur and body oils. Algal extracts are used as thickeners and emulsifiers. They also provide iodine, bromine and potash. Researchers are now testing chemicals from certain seaweed for drugs and medicines. Some of coral and barnacles are being tested for uses in dentistry. Grades 9-11.
